This is friendly, personable staff, with exceptional food. Could not be better. Bartender and service just like visiting a long lost friend. The cheese plate was huge and inexpensive. The sticky toffee pudding was light as a feather, moist and traditional flavour, smothered with custard. Absolute perfection. ❤️❤️❤️ fully independent pub!

Fun to dine at a "local" and not see any other obvious tourists. A nice selection of beer and an ample menu. We enjoyed a yummy smash burger with fat fries and open mic night.

Visited yesterday for Sunday Lunch with five people. The food, beer and great friendly service were all excellent.
I had lamb shank, which was so tender it melted in your mouth, the others all had beef, which they said was the same.
Along with a Yorkshire pudding, great roast potatoes, veg and pigs in blanket’s, with a rich gravy, we couldn’t fault it.
After a another great pint from their extensive bar we even managed to make space a tasty pudding.
In this day and age, it was also good to see great value for money prices too.
Would highly recommend a visit, we will certainly be back, to try the midweek menus too.

Great pub, lovely staff and great food. Often has great live music and always has a good atmosphere, one of my favourite pubs in Southampton. Two of their staff, Huw and Steven were both great.

Always enjoyed The Cricketers for a drink; but last night we ate there for the first time. My sirloin was cooked to perfection, flavoursome and all round delicious. My friend described his fish as moist, tasty, and delicious too, adding that the batter was crisp to perfection. He said it was the best fish he’d eaten in a long time. I drank London Pride, and he, Shipyard. Excellently kept beverages. Staff interested that we enjoyed our food and drinks. Sensibly priced menu. Thoroughly recommendable.

Great, dog friendly independent pub, with a friendly 'local' feel. Superb and reasonably priced Sunday Roast. To top it all off are the lovely bar team. Emily and Sam are professional, helpful and extremely friendly. I'll definitely be going back.

What a great find, we were having a father & son beer day & started off in the cricketers. We were welcomed when we walked in & found all of the staff friendly. There was a good choice of real ale too. We all had the pork roast & all of us commented about how good it was, in my opinion it was possibly the best roast pork I've ever had! I will definitely be returning.

Located in the centre of the city, a stones throw from London Road. This is a favourite of mine.
Still traditional in style, plenty of varied seating with tables for dining together with a patio style back area with parasols and heating. There’s benches outside the front which is currently cordoned off to traffic.
A wide range of drinks and spirits with specialty drinks in the fridge .
A large choice of menu meals, award winning too!
I have tried a few and all were very enjoyable.

A special mention to Kat and Huw who make the place an even better place for their great hospitality.
Cleanliness is of a high standard. I would thoroughly recommend it.
